Tsunami Educational Scholarship Fund

The objective of the KPMG Ford Rhodes Thornton & Co. Tsunami Educational Scholarship Fund (“the Fund”) is to meet the educational needs of those affected by the recent tragedy, namely, children of ex-employees of our Firm, students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Sri Lanka and university students studying for a degree in accountancy.

The trustees of the Fund will be the partners of the firm of KPMG Ford Rhodes Thornton & Co.

The Fund will become operational once US$100,000 or Rs. 10.0 mn is collected.

The interest earned will be distributed to the categories mentioned above at the sole discretion of the Trustees.

Once the category of students affected are dealt with, the interest may be utilized to pay the school fees of a child of any employee of our Firm studying in an educational establishment but not in an international school. The Fund could also cover children of present employees working towards a university degree in accountancy or students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. Their tuition fees and/or exam fees may be met from the Fund. Only the needy and deserving are to be considered under this category.

No administration expenses whatsoever will be charged to the Fund but all such expenses will be borne by KPMG Ford, Rhodes, Thornton & Co.

The accounts of the Fund will be audited annually by a partner of a KPMG member firm of any country other than Sri Lanka or Maldives.

Any decision of the Trustees is final and conclusive and is not subject to appeal or arbitration by any individual or body.
