shrbinay ji,

Why do you change your current course? It's really amaging to read you because Biomedical Engineers are highly demanded everywhere in these days. You will have very good scope if you do continue the same subject. As far as I feel or as far as we all knew that Nepal need more and more Biomedical Engineers. So, my sincer advice to you is; do not change your field and just continue the current one (Biomedical Engineering).

If you still want to know about Genetic engineering then I sure, someone will come soon and he/she will provide you the perfect information on your query. I am not from Engineering field even that I have made a comment here. I am sorry for that.

Good day to you!

Well, it's very to name the subjects for Genetic Engineering at Master level. You are asking to pursuing your career as Genetic Enginer after Biomedical Engineering (UG Degree). Very well educated intelectual of Biology Science only can give you good advice on this because Genetic Engineering is outdated course and it has very different criterias from others.

I had Master level but my Master level was Civil Engineering. Civil Engineering and Genetic Engineering are just like the land and the sky. smile.gifsmile.gif Even this, I am trying to write down the subjects for Genetic Engineering (Master level).

main subjects:

1. Laboratory of general Genetics

2. Molecular Biology 2

3. General Genetics

4. Molecular Biology

Additional (overlapping)subject:

1. Molecular Biotechnology.

+++++++++++++++++++

1. Laboratory of general Genetics:

Main Root:

A. Organic Chemistry 1 OR Organic Chemistry 1B

B. Introduction of Cell Biology

Related Root:

A. Organic Chemistry 2

B. Organic Chemistry 2B

C. Laboratory Course in Biochemistry A

Additional Root (Overlapping):

A. Biochemistry L

B. Biochemistry A

Incorporated Root:

A. Protein Biochemistry

B. Metabolic Pathways.

Continue........

Maybe, courses/subjects all above will be your subjects at Master level. You will have to select from above lists. I am not sure, please! ask to any Biology specialists first.

Thank you.

I know a member from here who is in this field and is studying in Germany....looks like its time for that sir to come and drop few lines....whereby he is soooooo busy that i see him working in lab till 2am. Will give a try though.

By the way i found interesting links...give a look.

Shrbinay ji,

Seems that you have keen interest in Genetic Engineering and ofcourse it’s the very exiciting discipline.

Well, I am sure you have gone through the wedsites suggested……………by Scented Soul , and courses suggested by Suhani….

As you know it deals with the manipulation of genes ie introducing a interesting gene from an organism into another, silencing a gene or make it ever workable……………

As ,for example; you the Human Insulin gene has been cloned into bacteria and nowdays Genically engineered bacteria are used to biosynthesize insulin for diabetic patients ……like many more exiciting examples

On the other hand,it is being used to unravel the mysteries of life…for example live bacteria have been created artificially………………message is that life is a assembly of biomolecules ……….

So to pursue Genetic engineering in Master Level, one has to study about biomolecules……

Well, Sribinay ji, the name of courses may differ from universities to universities but the basic things might be….

1. Biology

1.1 Basic Plant biolgy

1.2 Basic Animal bilogy

2. Genetics

3. Molecular bilogy

4. Biochemistry

5. plant biotechnology

6. animal biotechnology

7. immunoilogy.

8. Bioinformatic

9. etc…

if you study the molecular bilogy and genetics as main subjects, supplemented with some others , you are then .........

thanks
