Bharat Thapa 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 Hi DM, You do not need VISA to travel to India if you prove you are Nepali citizen. If you are planning to fly to India from UK with British Passport then yes you do need VISA as you wil be treated as British. if you are holding Nepali passport then you can fly from London to Delhi wtihout VISA. distant_memory 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Nepalese People do not need even Nepalese Passport to travel to India but it is advised to have something with you as an identity card which shows that U are a Nepalese National. oh ok...I'm planning to go to India for two weeks, I dont have a nagarikpatra but a Nepali passport, guess that would be suffice. I dont have anything to state I'm a nepali student other than my profession in my passport. Also I plan on ordering all the rail tickets online, so that I dont have the hassle of it there, so how do I get my student discount? And does anyone know how to get from Baroda to Udaipur and Udaipur to Jodhpur...there doesnt seem to be a train service. thanks.
chamatkaribaba 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 There is no train discount for a student if u are not studying in any Indian Institution. If u are studying in any indian institution, then, there is special form that will be issued by that institution and you get around 50% discounts in Sleeper Class. I think the 90% discount that Dipeshmnm is talking is only to Indian Tours by Nepalese Students studying in Nepal. Such tour should be authorised by ur institution in Nepal and you should get prior permission from Indian Embassy, Kathmandu. This is not the rule that always give u but as a benevolent Concession which so far my knowledge, are being used by IOE, Pulchowk Students. Nepalese Passport is more than enough and in fact the best source to show that u are nepalese national. If u have master/vissa/credit card, u can buy ticket online. that's not a problem at all and u do not get any concessions as ur facts senario tells that. Plus, If there is no train, u can take Bus Service. Just google for Indian Railways and there u can get trains list as ur needs. I travelled whole of rajasthan by Bus last year and have really no idea how train service is there. Udaipur is amazing place, u would really enjoy!
