shyamprad 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Dear all, It's our pleasure to inform you that WNSO-Nepal is going to organize a BLOOD DONATION CAMP in between the cascade of its activities going on. Nepalese people have been facing a real crisis of blood ans blood products throughout the country. Needy patients who are struggling in between LIFE and DEATH are not receiving sufficient blood to support for their life. Many people are not being survived, simply due to the lack of blood, despite the utmost efforts of clinicians. And the ultimate result is a DEAD-END. Moreover, the number of haemophilia patients, who need frequent supply of blood and blood products, have been found increasing in Nepal. To overcome this problem or at least to fullfill this requirement to some extent, we responsible youths should think again and again till we have sufficient blood to donate. We all do have blood circulating in our body and most of us can donate to save the lives of other people; it is obviously many more times worthy than doing a religious YAGYA. Therefore, why not to donate our blood if there is no harm with us? Let us make this campaign a great success sothat others will imitate at least for a good reason. All are requested to participate in this life-saving-campaign. Donate your blood, if not request and bring other doners, participate as a voluenteer and say all to donate. If feasible, please confirm your participation as a doner through email or phone ( 01-2143143) to WNSO-office at Dillibazar, Kathmandu. If you wish to suppot/sponsor this program (financial of materialistic), please, we will appreciate if you do let us know! BE A BLOOD-DONER, MOTIVATTE OTHERS TO BE A BLOOD-DONER !! Detail: VENUE: SHANTI BATIKA, RATNAPARK (RANIPOKHARI SIDE) TIME: 11:15 AM ONWARDS DATE: 19 JANUARY, 2008 (5 MAGH, 2064); SATURDAY NOTE: Refreshment and a Certificate of Appreciation will be provided on the spot. With Best Regards, SHYAM (On the behalf of WNSO-Nepal)

distant_memory 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I know Nepal is quite short of blood and blood donation camps are a fantastic way of getting that resource. However, I am a bit concerned as to whether you do any tests to see whether the donor is safe or not. Like the donor could have many diseases such as Hep B, C, HIV... How do you guys go about screening people in a proper ethical manner? And also here, in the UK, only people of certain weight are allowed to donate to prevent anysort of problems to themselves,...do they do that in Nepal or you guys just glad of the free blood coming your way. SUMAN-SAJAN 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Certainly we do have screening for selecting the donors , they should have proper weight , at least not less than 45 kg should not have jaundice and typhoid for last few months or years shold not be suffering at the time blood pressure should be optimal and should not be menstruating {for females} and about screening for STDs and other diseases like Hep B,C : its done after blood has been collected, in the lab .
