The survival of humanity depends on innovations. After learning to walk upright, we humans have always adapted ourselves to the ever altering habitats with innovative plans and practices in order to survive safely, reproduce and to be distinctively different from other living entities. By observing and interacting with natural environment, we have learned novel ways and methods for solving problems that were menacingly confronting us with respect to time and utilization of adequate material resources. By discussing the vexing issues among fellow members, persons, groups and community, we could arrive at elegant solutions for our comfortable existence.

Channeling innovative notion that could happen any time among individuals or groups for tackling any adverse situation positively beseeches cleverly conceived and detailed action plan. Innovation could be described as the mechanism of translating intelligent views into tangible societal impact. It is that substantial and significant variation that creates new dimension of performance, by which aspired benefits are achieved and delivered to target groups within stipulated time period. The prime goal of innovation is to solve a problem and is indeed an important topic for study in relation to economics, commerce, technology, sociology engineering and policy construction. It could be also manifested as prominent driver of the economy. The factors that lead to innovation could be critically important to policy makers. In the organizational context, innovation is linked to operation and growth through smartly practical improvements in efficiency, productivity, quality, competitive positioning and market share.


Innovation is derived from the Latin approximately meaning 'to make new.' We could also define innovation as making alteration in something already existing, as by introducing dexterously vibrant methods, ideas or products. Innovations are intended to make someone better off and the succession of many innovations grows the whole economy. Creativity and innovation are often interchangeably analogous even though creativity simply implies coming up with conclusions, while breathing life into these concepts is euphemistically innovation. In corporate perspective innovation is commonly understood as introduction of useful conventional or modern method. Innovation embodies synthesis of knowledge in original, relevant, valued latest processes or services. From economic aspect innovation is ushering the production methodology, which could handle commercial commodity prudently. Most innovations today are not totally fresh, but often represent redesigned combinations or modifications of existing merchandise, services and technologies, that have adeptly adapted to changing times and circumstances. Innovations may be developed by less formal on-the-job modifications of practice, through exchange and consolidation of professional realization and by numerous other routes. The more radical and revolutionary innovations tend to emerge from Research and Development (R&D), while more incremental innovations may emanate from empirical experience. Innovation is courageous attempt to carry out the first occurrence of particular hypothesis into usage.


Change and creativity synonymously resemble one another. They could often be substituted for innovation. In innovation creativity plays intrinsically important role, but they are not exactly alike in nature. It involves acting on creative ideas to make vividly specific difference in areas and sectors in which the innovation occurs. Innovation presents unique description of course of action or events in which people are challenged to push disciplinary and designed boundaries at utmost magnitude for construing cutting-edge techniques for ground-breaking inventions. Ultimate objective of the innovation procedure could be to attain dreamed ambition. However, at times innovation fails to meet them. The failure reasons have been widely researched as they strangely and considerably vary. One which is external to intuition is outside organizational influence of control. Others will be internal and ultimately within the authority of the organization. Internal reasons of fiascoes could be divided into those ones that would be associated with cultural infrastructure and innovation process. Innovations that generally fail are often dynamically excellent thoughts but they have been weirdly rejected or shelved due to budgetary constraints, lack of skills or poor fit with current mission. Potentially risky postulations could be identified, screened out and avoided on time so that they could be warded off from devouring scarce resources like finances that could be dedicated for progress and achievement of more beneficial ones.


Innovative change is the most stable factor for our existence. Nurturing talents of prodigious progenies require optimum investments on institutions with capable personals that have specialized to train and to bestow confidence to naturally gifted persons for accessing and utilizing their ingenuity for meaningful ways for the benefit of the community. Formal education at schools could be the starting place for future innovators to be trained for expounding their hidden creative strength. These endeavors inspire student's curiosity and desire to participate actively in project design and building. Consequently, innovation is ideally suited as a starting point for project-based learning, where students could gain skills and subject matter in structured system of creating their own ventures. In this course students collect and evaluate data from variety of prints, multimedia or internet sources. They could read and relish books and articles in magazines and professional journals on related topics in which students would be working on. They could further visit web pages and follow the academic polemics by mobilizing search engines to conduct on-line research. Student could ask carefully-crafted questions to experts, who could often provide them with amazing insights into the problems or opportunities. Mapping and charting out desired information from reliable potential sources and open-ended questions could exact and elicit invaluably useful informative data. They could analyze and synthesize information they have gathered and gleaned in peculiarly cooperative team-alike effort. They could determine and enhance the direction of their task. Students could eventually develop and augment the sense of ownership with us-feeling and slowly do away with egoistic me-attitude while working snugly in adhering team. Programmes like Innovations commenced and executed presently by reputed Alok Vidyashram could undoubtedly expose younger generation to become more constructive and innovative, while trying to address perplexing and worrisome issues in sustainable fashion. It is imperative that such laudable extra-curricular activities could be heartily welcomed and humbly requested for their regular repetition in more emulated manner, if possible, throughout our nation in future.
