You may have a lot of feelings in your heart for someone but aah… as he/she comes in front of you, you can’t utter a single word. Lips remain silent and your precious thoughts remain within you.

 

Here flowers prove to be your best friend or probably the best messenger, because every flower has a certain meaning and one can use these to express his/her unspoken desires.

 

The language of flowers originated in Persia in the 15th century and was brought to Europe in the 18th century. In the 19th century, this floral code became popular and people sent messages in bouquets to each other. Since each flower, colour and number had a specific meaning; conversations between lovers took place without a single word being used.

 

As far as roses are concerned, they are the perfect gifts to convey your emotions, 75 per cent of men say they would love to get rose flowers and most women love rose flower gifts as well.

 

The rose, which is the king of all flowers, is found in various colours and each colour illustrates a different message. It is commonly accepted that all roses convey warmth and affection but the person receiving these may not know the meaning of roses and may not understand the symbolic language conveyed. Red roses

 

Red roses symbolize romance, beauty, respect, courage, love and unity and are the most popular of all roses. Red roses also stand for the creative spirit of love, the true love stronger than thorns. True red is the lovers’ rose. Amaranth red means longstanding desire, Cardinal red represents sublime desire. Carmine means false desire (not true desire). Fiery red indicates flames of passion.

 

Black roses

 

Black roses denote the colour of death. Death of certain “set” ideas, thoughts and beliefs. It signifies a major change in the future.

 

Orange roses

 

Orange roses indicate enthusiasm, desire and fascination. The orange rose says, “I am proud of you!”

Coral roses signify desire.

 

Purple roses

 

Purple roses stand for enhancement, magnification, opulence, majesty and glory. They say, “I will always love you”. Lavender roses illustrate a need for discretion but it has also been accepted as a sign to indicate love at first sight and enhancement. Lilac represents the first emotion of love.

 

Peach roses

 

Peach roses show desire, anticipation, sincere appreciation and optimism for the future. Pale peach roses are a symbol of modesty.

Blue roses stand for fantasies, hoping for miracles, new opportunities and possibilities.

 

Pink roses

 

Pink roses stand for elegance, gracefulness, refinement, gentility, style and poetic romance but are also combined with fun and lightheartedness. It is the rose of sweet thoughts.

 

Pink roses also signify gratitude, sympathy and appreciation. Dark pink stands for appreciation and gratitude. Light pink roses convey admiration, sympathy, gentleness, grace, gladness, joy, friendship and sweetness. The combination of red roses and pink roses stands for strong romance and passion. Dark Pink roses are symbolic of thankfulness while pale pink roses are a symbol of joy and grace.

 

White roses

 

Send a dozen of white roses when you want to connote secrecy, innocence or purity. White roses symbolize reverence and humility. In American culture, the white roses represent security and happiness and are used for weddings. The white rose is also known as the “Flower of Light”.

 

In Scotland when the white rose bloomed in autumn it was seen as a sign of early marriage. In Vietnam, the white rose is worn on Mother’s Day for those whose mothers have passed away.

 

Red rose is worn on Mother’s Day for those with mothers still alive.
